If I get a female with no hidden ability and a male with a hidden ability from the same egg group but not the same pokemon will the baby have a chance of an HA?

Could I do it with an HA Ditto?

Has my friend who asked this found a legal way to get all the starters with their unreleased HA?

In my experience, the rate is more around 40-50% if the male has the hidden ability.

Male(HA) X Ditto =50% chance of HA Baby
Female(HA) X Ditto = 0% chance of HA baby
Female (HA X Male (no HA) = 50% chance of HA
Female (no HA) X Male (HA) = 0% chance of HA baby

I have a question myself, with items like air balloon and focus sash, if they get used up in a fight with a normal NPC are they gone for good or will they come back after the fight like in battle mansion and when fighting people online?

Ditto couldn't be used to pass down hidden abilities at all in Gen 5, including with male or genderless Pokémon.

In Gen 6, males can pass down the hidden ability only when paired with a Ditto with an inheritance chance of about 60%. Females can pass down the hidden ability regardless of who the parent is and it's about the same chance of inheritance. Ditto's ability doesn't matter as it relies on the non-Ditto parent.
