It's understandable that no one knew of/wanted these things in Gen 3, and as such they just became forgotten moving forward.

The only reason this thing appears in these threads is because of people like me who discovered it recently. There was absolutely no reason or need for it, and there are no characteristic qualities to it whatsoever.
