Anyone else kinda annoyed that Game Freak did their best to lovingly recreate the French culture and atmosphere for the region based on France and brought all sorts of classic favorite Pokémon and improved game mechanics for it, but just glossed over the region based on America?

Not really. America got two regions, so if you don't like Unova you can always go back to Orre. Game Freak perfectly recreated Arizona and all its miles of deserts and nothing.

But anyway, yeah. No Statue of Liberty, no White House, no Washington Monument, Juniper and other significant NPC's don't use gratuitous English in Japanese the way Sycamore does, we got a Hollywood analogue so I guess that works...

Not to mention that the BW Unova Pokédex is the exact opposite of the Kalos dex, especially in terms of starters and legends.

But other than all that, it was basically just a revamped Gen IV. Gen VI brought complete overhauls and the Gen I starters and legendaries, which many people like better than the Gen I-IV dex filler in B2W2's Unova dex - and brought back said dex filler too.

Liberty Garden is based off of Liberty Island, so I guess that sort of makes Victini and the lighthouse sort of the statue of liberty

I'm guessing he fell in love with the country - a lot of Japanese people love France, I think I remember reading that most of its tourists came from Japan.

But that still doesn't excuse absolutely zero signature American elements in Unova. It even had a JAPANESE shrine, for crying out loud.

You could make the same claim about gen iv and gen iii though.

Game Freak had to give agree with this, which is why pokemon from there don't turn into a mess of data after trading them.

If this is true then Game Freak really dropped the ball on their own legitimacy checker if bullshit like level 1 Gengar's and Master Ball Totodiles or even Pokemon that can be forced to recieve the Blue Pentagon, but not legitimate console game-moves.

And N and Ghetsis are interesting characters...

Unova also has the worst starter and weakest set of starters of all time, while Kalos has a well-designed Fighter-Mage-Thief trio and everyone's favorite Kanto starter trio.
