Oh my God this is like something out of a fairy tale, so I've been trying to breed a Shiny Charmander for a week and went through 10 boxes of charmander eggs and I was just getting so frustrated. I was getting to the last box and hatching them telling myself if I don't get one, I'm probably going to give up for a while. Then, on the very last egg, of my last line of eggs in my last box, I got this! This is the first pokemon I've MM'd and I can't belive it was so perfect. I also has HA Solarpower and Timid with perfect 5ivs 31/x/31/31/31/31 and it only took my a week! This is so awesome!

I feel kind of sorry for people who get shinies relatively early. On one hand, awesome, they got their shiny. On another hand, it just sets far too high expectations for future hunts that will probably kill their drive.

And I've heard of a few other people with multiple mm projects with their shinies matching their in game trainer. But Kaitlin got two male espurrs with a female trainer so as always it is the rng you have to deal with

well yeah they were mostly male, gender ratio is 9 to 1 right? I'm talking about mons with 50/50 gender ratio. Its just a thought, its completely possible I've just been reaaaaally unlucky lucky. And I am happy I've seen any shinies, despite it not being the right gender, I know some people can go 300+boxes without a single one.

Depends on your team. Seems pretty weak to Rock and Ground, so Garchomp with Earthquake and Stone Edge would probably tear through it.

Along with the Espurr, all the shinies with a 50/50 gender ratio I've hatched were female
I don't mind gender usually, it's just male Meowstic having Prankster as its HA..
It's probably just coincidence, but in Alice's case it really sucks

I take 5 eggs, hatch then then put in box for another 5 eggs. Lumiose is terrible for egg hatching, you still have to be around your console to validate the animation and poke naming and with egg power it's on egg every minute or less

basically Nintendo rewards you for being active. Your street pass counts the steps you take through out the day and when you hit 4000 you get 4x o power recharge. You don't have to walk the steps, though when I'm working I do, you can just wiggle the Ds and it counts it as a step. Never have to wait for o power recharge

I just combined harvesting and hatching. I always keep three eggs in my party while harvesting eggs. After I receive two more, I put those two eggs in a box and continue biking. After an egg hatches, I put it in a box, get another to always keep at least three, and go back to harvesting. Whenever I get bored of harvesting, I go get them checked, which clears up more box space. I assume I would have a better hatch/receive rate if I weren't trying to get a shiny Deino.

well receive rate is based on parents, same species, different trainer ids means fastest rate for eggs produced and when you team that up with the oval charm you swim in eggs. Ditto and whatever Mon your breeding is second best if they both have different ids, which they should if youre using Masuda method

I'll reply to this post, I think the 4000 step thing should be mentioned. We get a lot of questions on the best method for hatching, but there really is a best way, just the way that works for people. And I think route 5 should be added to easy routes to try chaining on, as well as looking for same shaking grass patterns

Sure you can. Use a calculator, the damage margin doesn't increase enough to make a huge impact. Speed is important because it's the sole factor in determining who goes first. You're going to be hard pressed to find many situations where a few extra points in attack make a move differ from a 2ko to a ohko. Granted there's a big difference between 0 and 31, but I don't think that's the case
