I mean, let's humour the concept that there are certain abilities that are as rare to pokemon as they are shiny. What would those abilities to to certain mons be that already have excellent abilities? is it only possible for certain species? I'm excited to think we haven't fully discovered all mons potential with perhaps a different ability. Albeit uncommon.

Put it this way. XY has sold almost 10 million copies, and every player has fought hundreds of encounters over the course of the game. In order for nobody to have noticed it by now, it would have to be so astronomically rare that you'd wonder why Game Freak would, well, make it that absurdly rare.

Assuming that each player catches a number of Pokémon, maybe 30 average (considering the casual, rush-the-whole-game-with-just-the-starter types, and the rarity of Dex-filling types), that's 300,000,000 individual rolls. In order for someone not to have noticed before you, the odds would have to be in the 1/billions. I just don't think that's a likely possibility.
