The only actual good elements are the character designs and competitve/collecting stuff.

Monster rancher 4 raising was far more interesting and fun than Pokemon breeding and training.

Pokemon are more interesting than any of the monster's in Monster rancher though.

If I could get a mix of those two my life would be complete.

Damn, I love Monster Rancher.
I'd play the shit out of a remastered MR1/2 with multiplayer elements.

Monster Rancher DS was great, it even had friendcode-less battle matchups before Pokemon had them, although I only ever found one other opponent in PvP.

Shame it died after EVO, which was shit since they took out the Princess Maker-style time management and sandbox aspect in favor of adding a shitty JRPG plot that basically ignored your monsters.

Tecmo only loves selling virtual bikinis in DOA now and doesn't make management sims anymore.

The two games have almost nothing in common besides featuring "monsters".

I think Monster Rancher has as much (if not more) intricacy as Pokemon going behind the scenes, except unlike Pokemon it doesn't disguise it with a piss-easy "story" mode.

It just kind of throws you into the world of hidden number crunching, and leaves you with vague or no explanation of the mechanics that you need to utilize. I loved it, but I can understand why it wasn't popular- a Pokemon equivalent of Monster Rancher would be starting you out directly in post-game in the Battle Frontier with a couple level 1 shitmons, with no story or handholding and Wonder Trade as your only source of new mons.

It could be a really interesting thing though.

Pokemon has lots of advanced tech so they could easily justify being able to take training gear with you while traveling.

The only thing I would not want is Pokemon retiring, but they would need to put caps on how many stats you could get because of this.

This would accurately represent EV's in a sense, but on a better scale.

A lot of Pokemon could become quite useful in this environment because they could actually dodge.
