If you like the pokemon enough, you'll find a way to use it regardless of how effective somebody else deems it to be. If all you're looking for is "what's strongest" then the weakest link in your team is probably yourself.

You've clearly never been hit by a Play Rough by the highest Attack stat in the game and monstrous bulk that can resist a 252+ Garchomp Earthquake

M-Mawile still has 2.5x that Attacking power unboosted, so I don't think there's a reason to use it without Mega.

Still, EQ is pretty easy to predict. I know a Gliscor with Ice Fang can handle Garchomp mano-a-mano, so I'd just swap on the erfquake.

Where do you actually get these statistics? I'd like to know wheter my Mawile-M, which has the 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Speed spread smogon recommends for the set, could survive Garchom's earthquake.

Mawile can't switch on Garchomp. It only works if they're sent at the same time (for the attack drop), and with 132 HP mawile wouldn't survive EQ.

Might be worth going full hp then. Wouldn't allow me to outspeed the likes of Azumaril or Tyrannitar, but I could potentially survive an earthquake from Garchomp.

On the other hand, even with full EVs to hp, it is unlikely to survive if the Mawile has taken any damage and the Garchomp is not hit with intimidate (so if they only sent the Garchomp after their first pokemon dies). So trying to attack it directly likely means you're screwed anyway. Probably best to just sucker punch it.

Regular Mawile by itself isn't that great; aside from the pretty optimal Gen VI typesetting of Steel/Fairy covering most of the holes in one another's weaknesses, its defense and sp defense are still pretty much shit. Attack is just okay, and with the Sheer Force ability it becomes all right, but without a Mawilite stone the best you can do is tank up stats + Baton Pass or hope that a Sucker Punch might take out an enemy weak to Dark moves. Wait, is Sucker Punch affected by Sheer Force?
