In looking for a new physically defensive pokemon I noticed that there seems to be an abnormal number of water types that fit that bill.
Which of them are the preferred picks, and why?

You can't run a dedicated physical wall in this gen unless you're only looking for something to wall pure physical types and/or set up rocks for a couple turns. Way too many good special attackers running around. Running a dedicated physical wall is just asking to switch switch switch.

I've been using a Bold Regen Tangrowth as my newest Defensive Wall. Shit's legit man. Takes physical hits and laughs that shit off. Combine that with Regenerator, Leech Seed, and Giga Drain and this motherfucker NEVER dies.

Keep him away from Special attacks, though. He can take like one (maybe two), but he's not made to stay in against a good special attacker.

physical sweepers are still the bee's knees. We got Mega Charizard Y, Mega Luke, Togekiss, Genesect and Mega Manectric off the top of my head (all of whome get fucked by Rotom-H) On the top of my head we have Mega Char X, Luke, Mawile, Smogon Ranger, Smogon Bird, Smogon Sword, Pinsir, Smogon Rabbit and probably like 5 other things I forgot to name.
