You sure it was shiny? I think all the birds' animations have a sparkle, but if it was differently colored then yeah no doubt it was a shiny.

Articuno does look pale in X/Y when compared to previous gens, and the shiny forme's difference is hard to notice.

OP: It's a roaming Pokemon. It's supposed to do that. Just go to the Articuno entry in your Pokedex and check its current location. Go there (but then make sure it hasn't moved again, or else, go to its new location instead), and walk through grass until you encounter it again. Keep chasing it around like this ten times. Then you'll finally be able to catch it.

Except it won't. Once it settles in Sea Spirit's Den, it will lose it's shininess, so OP will have to soft reset or some shit.

Is this true? That doesn't make sense. Assuming that it can be shiny in the first place (which, in Gen VI, can it be?), why would it suddenly stop being shiny? Is this a confirmed thing?

Have you soft resetted for the legendary birds in the den before? The stats change every single time. There's absolutely no fucking reason why shininess would be static while the stats themselves aren't.

It is pretty much the same as tracking them pre-Gen IV, except now you it will eventually settle down. This way, you can save that Master Ball for something "useful" like a shiny that can use teleport or explosion.

No, I have a life. But it seemed logical that the stats would be set on the first encounter, rather than then tenth. if it's confirmed that that's not the case, then okay. But that's weird, and not what I would have expected.

Exactly, it's a slight change in shade, but it's not white
Serebii doesn't have a shiny image in gen 6 though, so i don't know if the contrast got any higher
