Ok /vp/ I want to know which Gen is your own >personal Favorite.

And how do you feel about Gen 1 - 6, which game in the series holds the fondest memories for you personally.

Also tell of those rare pokemon moments, if you've had one you know the what I mean, which pokemon (all gens) become your most favored companion?

don't get me wrong,i love gen 6 but i don't like the games because i'm a color freak and gen 6 lacks the vibrant colors of past generations

OK. I have the fondest memories of Sinnoh. People hate, but the soundtrack was just so beautiful. The story line was not too bad. The pace was a little slow, yeah, but I felt like I was going on a real adventure with Sinnoh. Something about it made the Pokemon world feel "alive." I lost my original diamond game, but its memories still live inside of me.

I personally found Gen 3 and 5 to be rather poor additions (I enjoyed them [except 5]) and I never felt invested to spend the hours into playing the game after beating the elite four (note beat gen 5 at all yet)

I hold a lot of memories with gen 1 and 2(playing and trading with friends at school and daycare).

I would say I had the most fun with Platinum. I hope GF will bring back the villia.

OP here I've personally had a lot of fun playing X i'm 26 have 2 kids and it reminds me of the same excitement I used to have playing Red and Gold.

I will admit with Red being my first adventure in the pokemon games i'm biased as hell (also enjoyed yellow) but it does hold a special place deep down that no other pokemon game has come close too.

Third or fifth. If you had asked me before sixth came out I probably wouldn't have included fifth yet. I think I needed the closure and finality of a new generation to realize how much I liked it.

I really don't know why but I just found Gen 5 to be meh at best, I never felt the need to try and play the game, Gen 3 was similar to me, good story but it never grabbed me like Gen 1, 2 and 6

Crystal is technically gen 2.

1 = Kanto (red, blue Yellow)
2 = Johto (Gold Silver Crystal {HG SS})
3 = Honenn (Ruby Sapphire and Emerald)
4 = Sinnoh (Diamond Pearl and Platinum)

Well, first was my first and I was in kindergarten at the time. I had great fun with it, but mostly from playing with friends. Even back then, I didn't really find playing the game itself inherently fun.

Second was an improvement and my mind was blown by being able to revisit Kanto, but I think third was when it finally hit its stride, to be honest. I love Hoenn, I love its Pokemon, I loved the hideouts, it was great.

Fourth I skipped because I was in high school, and fifth just has something special. I really liked the reboot feeling and unlike fourth I loved a lot of the designs.

Sixth is really great too, but I feel like its various parts aren't integrated very well and I'm afraid to get attached to any features because I feel like they'll just get the axe next generation anyway. It also just doesn't have the same gripping feeling, I can't put my finger on it.

Also I just realized I've played Pokemon since I was five and I'm old enough to drink now.

Gen II. I think that's when my love for Pokemon was at its deepest. I actually got the original JAPANESE games on their release day in Japan because it was the same day my dad came home from a business trip, so everyone was jelly that I had them early(Can you imagine people getting hyped over Spinarak?)

Gen II was the game where they stabilized the code and polished everything from Gen I into a stable framework. The aesthetics, the music, the story, all of it was great! Your Rival was an even bigger bastard than Gary, and the gym leaders still offered a challenge. Yeah, the grinding sucked, but I actually found that to be part of the fun. Gen II was ROUGH and I liked it!

I could also move my bros forward easily with the Time Capsule and Pokemon Stadium 2, so I could use all my killer mons from the first game. Revisiting Kanto was another bonus, as you could earn the other 8 badges and breeze through a region which caused you so much trouble in the past.

And at the end, you essentially face yourSELF. Red is the you from Gen I, and you must prove that your new experiences in Gen II have allowed you to surpass your old self. It was sort of a final test for the two generations.

Gen III had two things that took the wind out of its sails: 1) I couldn't move my Gen II bros forward and 2) I looked up too many spoilers and ruined all the surprises, which made me go spoiler-free in future gens.

Now that I think about it, that's something else I miss: Mystery Gift!

Mystery Gift was a simple thing where you did a quick IR link with your games and generated a random item with whoever you linked with. It was sort of a quick "Hi-Five' similar to how street-pass works on the 3DS, but with a nice reward as an incentive.

...You'd have thought they'd bring that back by now...

Gen 3 holds the fondest memories for me since it's the gen where I found my first shiny pokemon (I basically skipped from Blue to Firered to Emerald, so I never got the red gyarados in GSC), it's also where I leveled up a pokemon to level 100 for the first time (my blastoise in Blue would've been that pokemon, but I got tired of using it around level 87ish). I've also had some of the best moments playing it with friends because it's the first gen where my friends and I all had the same system and type of games, so I bought a link cable and we constantly battled and traded with each other (they didn't get GBCs, so we never played Red or Blue together).

My favored companion is probably my favorite pokemon: manectric. I actually have a female manectric in my Y version named Lupa that's always in my team.
