Honestly, as someone who was a fan of Talonflame long before release, I never foresaw this coming. Even when I was hatching up those Gale Wings Fletchling on ~October 15th to give him a spin, I figured at best he'd have "a viable niche", but not enough popularity to break out of UU.

I'd count event-exclusives as being hidden legendaries, moreso than I'd call something like Zygarde "hidden". When literally half of the generation's legendary pokemon are hidden, I'd call that "plenty".

Gen 1 had 4 hidden legendaries to go out and find yourself. In X/Y Xerneas/Yveltal are given to you. There's a whopping one new legendary to go out and find yourself after you beat the game, and the rest are events you have to wait for. Less than gen 1.
