>false swipe and thunder wave if quick balls fail
>ultra balls until catch

Never do anything else.

I am waiting until I unlock the north side of Lumiose City so I can get a Luxury Ball to catch a Minun, because I caught Plusle in the same type of ball. I have no idea if I'll even use either of them in battle, but now that I started the quest to capture both I'm going to continue.

at this point it's not so much as "going theough hoops" but something as easy as trade with other people who like to do the same thing as you, and trading is fun in its own right.

I'm the same way. My entire competitive team is in premier balls, which means I can never use dittos for breeding.

As well, it means I can't have any genderless pokemon on my team, though that hasn't been an issue for me so far simply because I haven't wanted to use any genderless pokemon.

Wanted each of my Pokemon in a different ball for those aesthetics and it's not difficult with o-powers

Then I started using premier ball for everything after the E4

I can't bring myself to use Great, Net, Nest, Love, Heal, Heavy, or Timer balls. I usually use Ultra, Level, Luxury, Lure, or Quick Balls. I also hold on to Dusk Balls, but I prefer not to use them. Anything else that I didn't mention is fine,too. On the first two generations, I don't care either; probably because it's the lack of aesthetics on the balls. Pun intended.

I wish Nintendo would just introduce a simple system to change balls. Like you pick a ball in your bag to use, and then it overrides the original.

I did do some balltism earlier but now that I'm going more for 5IVs, egg moves and shit I don't really have the patience anymore. I just want to breed a bunch of playable Pokemon and breeding is slow enough as is.
