The gen would see some of the coolest Ghost pokemon yet. Fossil pokemon would be a key plot point instead of just another collectible. Revives would be brought up.
Team Badguy was started by two guys.
>Honcho A: Very wealthy, influential man who tragically lost his pokemon. In complete despair, he was contacted by...>Leader B: Evil scientist kicked out of the community for his unethical experiments on bringing pokemon back to life. He studied Ghost pokemon, pokemon like Yamask and Shuppet/Banette, and more, but his methods were cruel. He fled with his findings after his co-scientists tried to bust him for his deeds. With a (disguised) Honcho as the face of the team, others who have lost their pokemon or believe that they should be brought back join the cause. Honcho grows more unwilling as the plot goes on - with Honcho first battling the player as he personally picks up a "special package" from the region's Pokemon Tower - but his grief and Leader's control egg him on.
The final time you fight Honcho is when Leader finally succeed at reviving Pokemon, and you battle against Honcho's insanely strong former companion. But it can only use Struggle, and falls fast. Turns out the trip back saps them of their strength and will.
Later on you find out what Leader's really been trying to do - revive an ultra-powerful legendary that decimated the land eons ago. You battle him in his lair
and he becomes the first NPC in pokemon to use a revive but before he escapes for good, he flicks the switch to revive the legendary. The Normal/Ghost monstrosity roars back to life, for the player's capturing. Afterwards, it looks like Leader has escaped, but turns out Honcho came back and captured Leader to atone for his crimes and manipulation.
