You confront him on the playground by the jungle gym. He's looking out into the sunset with a nonchalant expression. A stutter escapes from your mouth before you nod to confirm it.
"Yeah. My dad left my mom, so we're going to head to the big city to get our heads back in the game."
The boy adjusts his baseball cap, "Really?"
"Mm."
"...So we're never going to see each other again?"
"Well, what my mom really wants to do is start over and move to a whole new region entirely, but that won't happen for a few more years at the earliest...so yeah. It is."
