SO, what is the best setup of this guy? Is it all about leech seed and sleep powder, or giga drain and Sludge bomb?

I've tried using him, but it doesnt seem to have that "never fucking dies" affect that I keep hearing about

I found this version pretty damn difficult to kill:
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed
- Sleep Powder
- Synthesis

Sludge Bomb has better coverage than giga drain and can hit a lot of Venasaur's counters on the switch (Talonflame, Latios, etc.) for extra damage. A combination of sleep powder and leech seed takes down any steel type that hops in. You can't just hurl leech seed out constantly and expect to win, though.

252 HP EVs, and then the rest in either Def or SDef, with a corresponding nature.

I find that Giga Drain and Synthesis give it enough healing to survive pretty much everything except things it has no business staying in on in the first place, like Alakazams or Talonflames. I used to run Leech Seed instead of Earthquake, but I found myself going for the Giga Drain instead 9 times out of 10 anyway, and Earthquake provides excellent coverage, allowing it to KO opponents who could check it otherwise.

My favorite Mega Evolution overall.

I was wondering about this too. Aside Smogonbird, how can you really deal with this guy? I found Tentacruel being useful but still pretty difficult to take him down, what should a moveset for him look like to counter this thing?

Lati@s can scare it off it its already put something to sleep.

Trevenant can outstall the mixed and physicals sets, Mega Pinsir also messes with the the 3 standard sets provided something is already sleeping, just watch out for the the sets running HP ice or fire.

Biggest problem for venusaur is 8 pp on synthesis means if you have a resist for its giga drain you can just wear it down with a burn and residual damage from EH or weather.

Mandibuzz is pretty good at making it look silly, as you can taunt it and outside of HP ice it cannot touch you.

Really mega vena doesn't serve any purpose. It's just "there." Tons of weakness than actual counters.

Depends on the set. If it lacks HP Fire then pretty much any steel type. Slightly bulky psychic types will scare it off too, thinking of stuff like Metagross and the Lati twins.

Grass types that don't take SE damage from sludge bomb can also easily ruin its day.

Mega tar also does a surprising amont of damage to it. A single stone miss will take about 70 to 80% off.

That and it'll hurt it with sandstorm, which also cripples to synthesis to like 20% recovery.

Standard offensive venusaur is OHKO'd by an unboosted return, seeing as that is the most common venusaurs in comp I think Pinsir is a viable to scare him off.

Not really, sticking all that into bulk is a waste when he's already so bulky.

Max HP max offensive stat 4sp.def is better for him.

Thick fat already means he's going to take everything but flying attacks really well.

In singles this thing never dies and saved my ass a couple battles.
For doubles switch sludgebomb with protect.
Talonflame is the only common counter you'll see for it, even then it can tank a bravebird and if you have stealth rocks up you should be able to KO it with a sludge bomb.
