Porygon line, Metagross, Charizard, Haxorus, Umbreon, Slyveon, Uxie, Aegislash and a few more all have shiny forms that are equal to if not better than their original color schemes.

the game uses palettes for colors, sorta like when you create clothes in animal crossing
for a shiny, the palette is just moved over 1, which is why all those blue water types become pink/purple (interesting fact, mega garchomp uses the palette of shiny normal garchomp, which is why shiny mega garchomp is pink)

How would you fix lackluster shinies, /vp/?

I threw this together, I think it'd be cool if they explored other versions of the inspiration for the pokemon. Like what if Ursaring's shiny was a black bear to the normal one's grizzly bear?

I can probably try a few more mock-ups.

I like this a lot.

I've noticed with certain shinies it seems like GF actually made an effort for them to make them resemble something of a similar nature, or at least make some sort of logical sense with their colour schemes. Pic related, you can justify these colour changes.

Yeah, I love the way they kept the white of both of their bodies the same, and changed their characteristic colours, rather than just giving them a random hue mix. The fact that they kept their triangles consistent with their counterparts too, just makes so much sense unlike so many of their other shinies

For me the only shinies done right are Mienshao, Lopunny, Haxorus, Rayquaza and Metagross

At least it isnt like Froslass and Lilligant shiny, where the only things that change are the ribbons and flower hat thing

I think personally I prefer the way the off-white works with Duskull more than the gold in Dusknoir. I mean I like the canon shiny Dusknoir's colours, but you can't make an evolution's shiny so much more underwhelming than its pre-evolutions see Garchump

Magcargo is one of my favorites and I dont mind the purple shiny, but what the hell man, this would of been kick ass.

I think the best Fire shinies do this, the best Steel shinies change to another justifiable colour of metal (like Steelix turning gold, or Bronzong turning like an oxidised copper), and some great Rock shinies changing to another typical rock colour (like how Rhyhorn goes from a stone grey to a sort of terracotta/clay red.)

Right after I posted I realized that didn't make much sense since they're literally complimentary colors. I think a better way to put my feelings into words is that the purple on it is already doing the job of standing out from black and being striking and that the yellow looks bad in comparison to that.

My favorite shinymons are the Ralts line. Blue looks good on those pokemon. Anything that turns a garish green or that pinkish purple I don't like.

Probably the best looking shiny out there, infinitely better than the normal color. Steelix is also one of the top shinies.

Worst are almost all of them, but the absolute worst are the ones with barely any difference. I'll take awful color schemes of pinks and greens and ones that don't make sense before one that I can't even tell is a shiny at first glance.

I think the ones I hate the most besides ones that are very similar to the normal color schemes are evolution lines that have different colors than the evolution before it. Take the Poli line for example. Its' normal colors are blue, blue, and blue (Ignoring Politoad or whatever it's called). Why the fuck are the shiny colors light blue, light blue, then sewage green? It makes no sense. Either make them all light blue, or all green.
The first two colors of this line are also an example of shitty "oh, let's just change the shade of the color it already is just a tiny instead of actually taking the time to make it look great for an alternate color scheme".

one line I really hate with this is Psyduck and Golduck. Psyduck is normally yellow and then its evolution is blue. So in its shiny colors, Psyduck is now blue (a shade I actually really like), so wouldn't it make sense for Golduck to be yellow now? Nope, they got lazy and kept it blue and a pretty similar blue at that.
