Why are the Crown Beasts Shiny?

I've always wondered why the legendary beasts are shiny in the Zoroark movie. I thought there was only one of each legendary Pokemon. Didn't they get resurrected after Lugia's tower burned down? Is there a duplicate, shiny set? Do they interact with the original ones? Does Ho-oh just go around making them?

The latter. Legendaries being one of a kind didn't start until gen 3 (excluding Mewtwo as a genetically modified Mew produced by science, although even that may be retconned now). Lugia and Ho-Oh aren't unique either, they're just very rare.

This isn't the case in the anime; it's proved this multiple times

the only legendaries that I think are unique in the anime are Arceus/Dialga/Palkia/Giratina

There are multiple of most legendaries. The ones from the tower just have special significance to that area. As for why they were shiny, probably to differentiate them from the ones in the tower. It makes it easier for small children to understand that they are a different group if they have their own colours.

As for what is and isn't unique, who knows.

Movies are non-canon, even amongst themselves, so the female Mewtwo could be considered to be the only Mewtwo within its canon
Alternatively, it's not unreasonable to assume that some of the data of the original Mewtwo project fell into the hands of some scientists who thought they could do a better job of it, and still failed at keeping it under control.

I don't buy it. It was probably just multiple Celebi. If it could exist across multiple timelines it wouldn't have really needed to revive itself anyway.

See, this is weird to me because there's some interview where some dude said X and Y refers to mathematical axis on a grid or some shit, but then the whole game has this big DNA and eugenics theme right down to the megastone icons which are literally a double-helix and then there's shit like and Zygarde which is probably a setup for a Pokemon Z rather than XX/XY (inb4 Pokemon Gray) and that all just leads me to believe that the design conceit in regards to the name and its significance was "fuck it, sure let's do all that, why not?"

Time travel is a paradox period. I'm just going to assume the simple explanation and that there are just multiple Celebi just like almost every other legendary.

Mewtwo did end up creating a very advanced cloning machine. After he left the island, someone may have found it, and rebuilt a similar machine from his schematics or reverse engineered one from the wreckage. Then they would just need to find some of his DNA left over from his time there, or the fight.

Keldeo I'm not so sure about because he DID have a mother, and we all know Pokemon are born as the species of their mother, which means she was a Keldeo too. I just run under the headcanon that he's the last of his now-extinct species.
