I prefer it. the comedy, cuteness and character/pokemon design are best kept so it caters to japanese society based on its folklore/humor. We don't want another icecream pokemon or a hamburger pokemon later on.

Why wouldn't a Japanese company favour Japan? Not only do they know the market better but it's easier to organise things like events(Not that international events are hard to do but it does require a little bit more effort.)
