What is the point of adding an electric rodent that looks strikingly similar to the franchise's real world mascot every single gen? Don't get me wrong, they're all pretty cute, but what exactly is the point? It's not like there aren't other cute Pokemon out there.

At least the other recurring archetypes have a clear gameplay purpose: Ratatta clones/regional birds are there to be your HM/Fly slaves, pseudos are supposed to reward patience with power and be used for endgame activities, etc.
