As someone who never does competitive battling but wants to get into it, is Aegisslash viable? what's a good moveset and nature for it?

Most fully-evolved pokemon are viable, anon, and plenty of NFEs are too.

It's called Smogonsword for a reason...

On a more serious note, it's pretty good as competitive Pokemon go. There are a number of ways you can use it, but generally should always have King's Shield.
