What movesets are you all using on your megas?
I'm looking for an ampharos set for when I transfare my shiny one over

I've been using mega agility ampharos. With a modest nature and max speed outspeedas Greninja (the fastest unboosted shit in OU) by a few points after an agility and can go to town with Dragon Pulse, Tbolt and Focus Blast. The problem with Ampharos is that it's strong, but not strong enough, OHKOs usually fall short for a few points.

That's what entry hazards are for. If you're always a few points short of a OHKO you will nail it if Zoroark Zirconium is down.

Yup, modest with 252 evs is somehow
faster than narufrog at +2.
Even with hazard support it seems kinda lacking.

Nature: modest
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
-Agility
-Thunderbolt or Discharge
-Dragon Pulse
-Focus Miss

Tbolt has 90 base power with a 10% chance to paralyze, while Discharge is 80 with a 30% chance. Pick whichever you think is best.

With this EV spread, one use of Agility and you'll be faster than quite a lot, even with a base 45 speed. Problem is, it's an egg move. If you're set on using your shiny one, teach it Thunder Wave instead and go with a 252 HP / 252 SpA EV spread instead for maximum bulk.

EV investments go a long way with some boosts.

Mega Ampharos with 252 speed EVs:
189 speed Modest (378 w/ agility)
207 speed Timid (414 w/ agility)

Competition with 252 EVs and +speed nature:
Fully speed invested Greninja (122 base)= 377
Fully speed invested Crobat (130 base) = 394
Fully speed invested M-Manectric (135 base) = 404
Fully speed invested Electrode (140 base) = 416

Scarf users need 76 base speed for a tie against timid M-Ampharos.
Scarf users get a leg up on modest M-ampharos at base 66 speed, but M-Ampharos is still faster than base 65 scarfers.

I run HP fire instead of Focus Miss on my showdown M-Ampharos set, but that's mostly because it's on my team of 6 favourites and I desperately needed a fire attack.

Something else to note:
The only two pokemon that don't need a +speed nature, item or boost to outspeed +2 timid M-Ampharos are Ninjask and Deoxys-S. They still need a bit of EV investment to do it though.

Because 30% paralyze chance with perfect accuracy. Considering how fucking slow mega pharos is, he really needs those speed cuts, and the chance of enemy not making his move is fine too considering low hp and no recovery.
inb4 thunder wave - yes, it's viable, but you better try not to waste turns on simply paralyzing the foe, ampharos is not that tough.

It ahould be noted that these calcs are for level 100.

If you're playing on cart (level 50) you need 244 speed Eve on a modest mega ampharos in order to out speed greninja after one agility.
