So I just learned Heracronite is post game, and Heracross has been my bro since Silver. My impatient ass doesn't want to wait. Would anybody possibly be willing to trade me a pokemon, any pokemon, holding Heracronite for something?

You cannot use the Mega Ring for any 'mons besides Lucario or the starters until post-game, it gives a message saying that it doesn't recognise the stone or some shit like that

A man gives you the Aerodactyl stone. Same with Abomasnow, Ampharos, and Gengar. The rest of the stones are hidden and you can only find them between 8 and 9. Those stones wont work until you upgrade the mega charm.

I still think you're underestimating the value of Mega Stones -- You will literally need to offer bank legendaries in return for a mega stone for one of the most popular pokemon if you can't offer an X-exclusive stone in return

Why are they giving legendaries and ubers and OU mons Mega Evolutions?
Isn't their whole point to give slight buffs to forgotten/overlooked/slightly underpowered mons so that they become viable again?

They gave certain Pokemon megas to appeal to nostalgia. Mewtwo only got a mega because of how popular it was. Other Pokemon got megas to become more usable or just to completely change how they're used in battle. Garchomp and Tyranitar did not need mega forms. Also keep in mind that terms like "OU" and "ubers" are fan terms and Gamefreak doesn't really acknowledge competitive battling.

Any version exclusive stone is going to cost an assload to get, they aren't something you can easily replace or trade around on the GTS. I paid a (shitty) Heatran and ability capsule for a heracronite a few weeks ago to a passerby and I think I got the better deal.

Maybe ask around the clone thread, thats the only way people can have multiples I think.

When you can literally steamroll the entire game without even trying, stronger can be a bad thing. At least you have to maintain decent levels without it.

A lot of post-game megas are post-game in part because they'd rape the whole league circuit if they weren't.

You don't need it to Mega Evolve any new Pokémon though.

It just makes the other stones available.
I traded my Aggronite over to my copy of X (Which I haven't beaten) and I can use it just fine.

You don't think Skill Link Rock Blast/Bullet Seed/Pin Missile/CC off of 185 attack is going to make the game even more of an absolute pushover than it already is?

Pretty sure the only thing that NPCs use that can stop it is Talonflame, which only a handful have.
