People are right when they say get good. If you're going to restrict yourself to only using Pokemon you like, you have to form a strategy around them and accept that players with better Pokemon who are also smart battle wise will beat you sometimes. You can't use the excuse that they had Talonflame if you used Pokemon with little competitive merit.
I've been using Vileplume the last few weels because I like it and it works because I have team synergy. But of course it will die to some of the huge hitters in the game. But when I play it right it has taken down Pokemon like Talonflame, Dragonite, Latios, Scizor, Mandibuzz and those are from battles I did last night.
Either get better, or accept the fact that you will sometimes lose to OU the team simply because their Pokemon are better.
