Things you miss from past games

What are some small things you miss from previous games? Think in terms of small details that you appreciated.

For example, I miss the night time Pokemon Center music. I was a bit let down it didn't change at night in other games.

Season and hour differences, like finding certain pokemon in certain moments of the day.

The only thing similar to that now is finding rotoms the thursdays.

Well, since there is already a remake for R/B and G/S, the next one might be R/S so it would be nice to have at least 3D Ruby/sapphire bases and beauty contests, that is if gamfreak decides to keep those core aspects of the games...

OP, "Pokémon Center" (the theme) only had a nighttime variant in the Sinnoh games. Interestingly, the original Johto games also had a nighttime variant of "Battle! (Wild Pokémon—Johto Version)" that wasn't kept in the remakes.

Following pokemon of course. I still think they ought to bring them back when they can manage to program the walk and running cycles for all the pokemon, and make it so that talking to your pokemon activates pokemon-amie, with the background matching your environment, like battles.

Also, time based events. I really liked the daily events in G/S and HG/SS, though I'd rather be able to re-challenge gym leaders any time, so it should be used for special shops and sales, rare wild pokemon, ect. ect... and seasons from B/W. There's a lot of untapped potential with the game's clock, this game may as well have not even had a day and night system.

I miss the "bwing" sound when the trainer's sprite appears during a battle from gen 1.

I miss secret bases, and decorating your room.

I miss pokemon stadium, including the kid's corner, and professor oak's lab ( the pokebank of gen 1 and 2, but it actually lets you store and use items. )

I miss the starters being on the box... Why would you even put the legendaries, the biggest plot points in the game, on the box? It was passable in G/S, since Lugia and Ho-oh weren't even part of the main story, but that's almost like slapping the final boss on the box of other games.

I miss 8-bit music... I have no excuse for that.

Pokemon contests. I loved them and I trained several contest-only Pokemon in addition to my in-game battles team (I didn't know about competitive battling yet).

The return of following Pokémon and its integration with Amie (including the improvement of the latter) would certainly be welcome.

The Stadium games are not core series games, anon. They're not Game Freak's responsibility.

The legendary Pokémon being on the box art of the games is a marketing and strategic move.

As to chiptunes (AKA 8-bit music), yeah... I miss that too. The GB Sounds gave us a MIDI soundfont to play the stereo versions of the original Gold/Silver and Crystal music on the DS and it worked mostly well. After all, you could never get the originals to play on the DS without modifications of some sort either way.

Gen3: Secret bases
Gen4(DPP): Secret bases still, even though they were all shitty cave bases instead of master race treehouse.
Gen4(HGSS): The Toggle-able shoes/bike at a single press, and the re-battling trainers when they call you.
Gen5: The semi-custom bottom screen is my only thing I miss here.

Wants for gen7 if they bring any features back: Only concerned about the bases really. Those would be amazing to re-add via wi-fi.
