S-so im learning how to horde EV train today..... i am in the frost cave trying to raise my special attack

My only question is - how do i prevent getting EVs i dont want if i can't run?

Why would you not be able to run?

The Pokemon gaining EVs doesn't have to battle, as long as it gains exp from the exp share it will get EVs. Just use a strong Pokemon with surf and then run away from the Pokemon you don't want to fight.

why are you not bringing a lv 40 and above water mon with surf on your ev training?

exp share stacks EVs, couple it with power items

Pass Pokerus to the pokemon you want to EV Train, equip it with a power item of the Stat you want to train and just turn exp share On. Put a strong mon with Surf or something that hits everything first and just kill the hordes. You'll get 50 EV points in a single battle.

And yeah you only get EVs if the pokemon gets exp points, so if you run it's fine.
