>>17773034I suppose you shouldn't expect a reasonable answer on 4chan, but people had the same reaction even when this happened in Brawl.
No one's really that upset that it IS Lucario, they're more upset that it ISN'T Mewtwo. People want to play as a Pokemon series icon; one that defines a message put forth by the franchise. Pikachu does that. Pichu doesn't. Mewtwo does that. Lucario doesn't. Toon Link does that. Young Link doesn't. Subtle differences, but they make all the differences to the people who actually understand what the difference is - you know, the intended target audience?
I have a feeling Mewtwo may be in, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll use the excuse "Oh he has two Megas and we couldn't decide between them for his Final Smash" to not put him back in. I don't know, there have been some strange decisions by Nintendo recently. Wii Fit Trainer is a funny idea, but the game would have sold more if Ashley was playable; simply because a lot more people want to play as Ashley than Wii Fit Trainer.
