>>17756743>Gen I: incredible for the time, really unlike anything I had ever played before. Defined video games for a long time for me. Doesn't hold up today.>Gen II: Honestly really incredible barring the questionable level scaling of wild Pokemon. Some people think that ruins the game, but for me that's honestly a lone hiccup. Still holds up in my opinion.Gen III: Not an enormous fan, but the games were pretty good. Riddled with more missteps than most other gens, as far as I'm concerned, but the introduction of abilities and a fleshing out of the comparatively underutilized held-item system is pretty notable. Level design is really where it suffers. I ended up playing much more of the Gen I remakes than R/S.
Gen IV: Really underrated in my opinion. Has some of the best atmosphere in the entire series, and in my opinion the best music overall. D/P suffer from some pretty serious issues but Platinum is hard to fault. HG/SS are also really phenomenal, but still suffer from the major fault of G/S which is a little disappointing considering Platinum didn't have that issue.
Gen V: Probably the weirdest addition to the series for a variety of reasons, but still pretty good. B2/W2 surpass B/W in so many ways. (Some people argue that B2/W2 has a worse story but I would refute that by saying Pokemon has yet to have a story to impress me on any real level and that B/W takes itself stupidly seriously to it's discredit.) Suffers from what I consider to be a pretty weak first couple of hours, but less so in B2/W2.
Gen VI: I seriously think that the people who hail gen VI as garbage are either unashamed trolls,
contrarians, or are suddenly coming to the realization that they don't like Pokemon at all. The game is impeccably designed, the models look wonderful, the sheer level of variation afforded by the variety of wild Pokemon you have available to you right out of the gate is remarkable (every other game gives you 2 Pokemon to catch in the first route, this game gives
