Good afternoon /vp/

what is your favorite shiny pokemon?
I just time-machined a shiny magikarp (and if that means what I think it means then I can produce whatever shiny I want provided I have the necessary breeding pair in my save file)

What is a good looking, competitive shiny I can make?

well, my personal favorite shiny is Lilligant. I happen to like the color combinations better than regular.

Nice looking comp shinies... imo I like Sylveon, Klefki, Metagross (I don't think that will work with time machine because genderless) Haxorus, Mawile, it's really up to your preference. You should look at shiny sprites of mons that you prefer to use competitively.

I have enough IV bred HA froakies that I could make a decent 4-6 IV shiny (which makes a sweet Greninja) that's also competitive. FOR SCIENCE! ...and onesgaio (captcha)

Unfortunately, the shiny value did not transfer. The relatively good news is that the random IV turned out to be SpA. Even better these results only increase the value on shinies(legitimate ones (at least gen 6))

alright so i see the stats that will be passed dowm (in my case all but def) so i took out the karps and put in the poke i want. can i get an egg and hatch then reset until i get a shiny?

Well, what OP's test seems to indicate is that the Shiny value is determined when the egg is received, not when at the same time as the Destiny Knot values are determined. It makes sense, since those values are independent of the parents and the shiny value has to take MM into account.

So, yes, if you save before an egg is generated, then keep generating an egg with the same values, you'll have a chance of producing a shiny. Of course, that means I might even be able to go so far as to autism my way to a 31/0/31/30/31/30 Shiny Protean Froakie.

Would it be possible to reduce the amount of autism necessary? Say you were a lucky enough dude to stop just a few steps from hatching your egg? According to this theory, This process is more streamlined and should eventually reach a shiny.

Of course, it would've actually had to be checked in Battle Analyzer, since you can't go into trades without saving, which I'm unsure if it checked SV or not.

Basically IVs are inherited no matter what accross parents for every egg. Like M/F/M/X/F/M. So you save as the guy is offering you an egg, deny it, check the inherited stats after you hatch the next egg and put two parents in with the desired inherited IVs. I didn't know this worked with Shones though.

Thing is, it doesn't. OP hatched a shiny on the first check, but it hatched normal on the second. So we know Shiny Values aren't determined at the same time as the Destiny Knot spread.

Yes. So you can generate a perfect IV spread and then try your luck at forcing shininess. Makes Hidden Power shinies almost seem possible.
