Only Whitney and Norman for me. In fact, it got to the point where Norman curb stomped me the first time I fought him. If it wasn't for skarmory, it would've taken a lot longer to beat him.

Brycen Gen 2 Ice Gym Leader

Tate & Liza Gen 3 Psychic Double Battle Gym Leaders

Morty Gen 2 Ghost Gym Leader

Winona Gen 3 Flying Gym Leader

Blue Gen 2 Various Gym Leader

These were the most troublesome gyms to face in my experience nuzlocking. I did not always choose the best starter nor did they always last long enough to carry my team.

Misty - Having a goddamn Starmie so early in the game
Tate&Liza - Because you're probably not carrying around Pokemon who perform well in Double Battles
Clair - Fucking Kingdra
Brock in Pokemon Yellow - Yes, there are things that can deal with Onix easily. Good luck figuring out what they are that early in the game.
Norman - Slaking and Vigoroth both hit like a truck.

Fucking Starmie man....If you didn't choose Bulbasaur, you were in for a tough ride. God forbid you had a Pikachu and tried to beat that thing only for it to OHKO your Pikachu leaving you with Charmeleon and others. Wartortle could Bite it to death I guess.

Slaking hit too damn hard. It's a good thing it have Truant cause otherwise shit wouldn't be fair. I don't think any Fighting Pokemon besides Hariyama and Machoke possibly could survive a round with it.

My in-game team for Emerald by that point was Grovyle, Ninjask, Dustox, Shedninja and Lombre. Watson, Flannery and that bird bitch can go fuck themselves.
