Question. Why does nearly everyone in /shw/ seem to disregard the data on the smogon shiny spreadsheet? Its pretty clear that the shiny charm does indeed work on hatching (1/456 instead of 1/1024 from last generation)
I mean, the chances of hatching a shiny has been pretty consistant whether theres 300 eggs hatched, 1000 eggs hatched or their current total at 81467 eggs hatched. The english text must have been a mistranslation seeing as the japanese text is unchanged, and it would seem crazy to assume that Gamefreak altered the code on their region's copy inorder to make sure Japanese copies kept the same rates.
The data proves that the shiny charm affect hatch rates.

I've been keeping track of boxes (and for some of my shinies, eggs too) ever since I started MMing, and now that I've got 10, I figured I'd try to calculate my rate
On average I get a shiny every 16,3 boxes or 1/489 eggs.
That's pretty close to the rate that the Smogon research thingy shows
But I don't have the Shiny Charm Am I just insanely lucky? Has anyone else here done something like this?

Gengar doesn't have much bulk, so max Speed is crucial. If you're outsped your chances of surviving a hit are pretty slim (depending on what you're up against, obviously, but M-Gengar belongs in Ubers so we're talking Legendary-tier Speed stats).

Also I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss this but I saw the brief SMT discussion I missed after work the other day and wanted to echo my sentiments about the series.
Ever since I saw nocturne in a magazine years ago and got a hold of it I've been a complete nut for this series and grabbed just about everything related to it that came stateside (which reminds me that I need to get a copy of soul hackers before it goes extinct). So far no entry in the series has been a disappointment.....they're all top notch games and a few in particular have some of the best storylines I've seen from an RPG (digital devil saga and persona 3&4 in particular stand out).
I remember when I first played nocturne I hit a huge fucking roadblock at Thor and for the first time had to go back and seriously re think the way I played the game.....after that I think I spent more time in the damn cathedral getting the right builds on demons than anything else (why can't you all be like SMT IV?)......if anything this game forced me to git gud at RPGs...I doubt I'd be this obsessive with min maxing in pokemon if it weren't for what this game started.
tldr; If you're into pokemon, pick up an SMT title.....you will not be disappointed.
