The tier list will be based on 1. The defensive utility of the type 2. the STAB offense provided and 3. the type of pokemon that receive the type. The type as a coverage move is not included

S tier: Steel, Fire, Ghost
A+ Tier: Dragon, Dark, Fairy
A Tier: Water, Flying, Ground, Electric
A- Tier: Fighting, Grass
B Tier: Rock
C+ Tier: Psychic, Poison, Normal
C Tier: Ice, Bug

Bug actually has some resistances. Bug/Steel is a great typing and Genesect is ripping through OU with STAB U-Turn.

Bug/steel types are the exceptions. Although bug is awful by itself, bug/steel is a great type combo, since it only has one weakness and maintains most of steel's useful resistances, essentially being a steel type with STAB U-turn. Although bug has two decent resistances to Ground and Fighting, the resistances aren't really needed because Flying types counter both of them much better. Plus, bug type is the typing of a billion shitmons. Meanwhile it has crippling weaknesses to Fire, Flying, and Rock.

Other than STAB U-turn bug is by far the worst offensive typing in the game as well. So many pokemon 4x resist bug and even with 3 coverage moves its impossible to have decent coverage with bug type STAB while still doing good damage.

tl;dr: all the bug/steel types are good because they're steel type, not bug type.

Also, the Bug/Steel types lose Steel's common Fighting and Ground weaknesses (Speaking of which, you put Fighting WAY too low). Saying "They're good because of their Steel type, not their Bug type" is retarded when the two types both contribute.

I'm assuming you mean mega pinsir, because regular pinsir is ass.

Volcarona is redeemed by having high stats and excellent near-exclusive moves (quiver dance and fiery dance), Heracross is redeemed by having good bulk, attack, and excellent abilities plus a mega with the fourth highest attack stat in the whole game, and mega Pinsir is redeemed because of having amazing Attack and defense with decent speed and STAB Aeriliate boosted Quick Attack and Return.
All three pokemon have secondary typings, but all of them are known for having subpar coverage (except mega pinsir because it normally doesn't even carry bug moves). You can thank their bug STAB for that.

But listing certain pokemon who are good despite their bug typing is like saying Ice is a good typing because of Mamoswine.

I guess we can throw Dragon under the bus. Quadruple Ice weakness and an immunity sucks.

And you still didn't reply to the other point. Bug is often a fine defensive typing because it resists Fighting (Mega Lucario, Conkeldurr, Terrakion... Why do you have it below Flying and Electric again?) and URFQUAKE.

Your argument fails here, because even though bug types with high stats do exist, half of them are worthless shitmons. Meanwhile I can only name one fully evolved dragon type with bad stats, Altaria. Besides, dragon/flying is good, 4x ice weakness can be easily overcome, and ground immunity never sucks, especially since it makes you immune to sticky web.

There are plenty other superior defensive and offensive typings that resist Fighting, and resiting both fighting and urfquake is unnecessary because most fighting types carry rock, dark, or poison moves for coverage, not ground type moves. While they are nice resistances, bug gets destroyed by its Rock weakness because most fighting and ground types always carry rock moves for coverage.
