As this image clearly demonstrates, singles is stagnant metagame filled with the same copy & pasted teams enjoyed only by sheep, while doubles is overflowing with creativity and is only truly appreciated by freethinking patricians.

I won't defend VGC, I've never played Doubles competetively, but in the VGC 2014 you couldonly use Pokemon from the Kalos-Dex. What about Smogons Doubles Meta-Game?

That being said, I also compared Gen 5 OU Singles to VGC 2013, where the Pokemon limitations weren't a factor, and the centralization was even WORSE. Will post pic in next post.

Well nevermind. I took a second look at the stats I was gonna post and noticed that VGC 13 only had 19 matches played in that month, so of course stats would be fucked up. Took the ones from September for a better comparison.

Oh man trust me I know. I used to play Gen 1 OU. Every time someone whines about "Smogon: The Team" I just can't help but that chuckle. Go to the RBY/GSC sections if you REALLY want to see everyone using the same team.

I won't argue that vgc is a more balanced metagame than ou, but the game's design seems to favor doubles over singles. vgc is also balanced by people who hardly seem to care about a competitive meta.

Smogon doubles are not nearly as policed to provide a fair comparison either.
