Because every time GameFreak make a new Pokedex they get all excited and make all the cool Fire, Water and Flying ones first

Then they get to about 50 and some jackass goes "guys we should probably think about putting in some Ice types soon" and they go oh yeah those pieces of shit and rush to get any old piece of ass design done so they fill their quota for female empl- I mean, Ice types.

ice is good against grass, flying, dragon, and ground. grass and flying types are common early in the game so I'm guessing Ice type would feel a little too powerful.

In Platinum yeah, go under Cycling road and look for the hidden entrance to Wayward Cave. In fact it's the only place you can find one.

That' really the only dragon in Platinum for a while. X & Y were throwing dragons in your face during the main game. Which I didn't like because I wanted new mons and not a pseudo team

Because Dragon has always been intended to be a boss type for the endgame, hence why they resist all the starter types.

However, as pointed out above, dragons are available earlier than usual this time around. Probably to showcase Fairy's type effectiveness.

TFW fairy is a bigger threat for fighting and dark types then dragon.

Why is dragon weak to ice exactly? Id imagine it has something to do with the idea of dragons being fire breathing kinda creatures, but then why is fire SE against ice?

Ice is a great offensive type, and offense is pretty much all you need for the story, you can one shot anything with a SE STAB move
