The destiny knot only inherits 5IVs. It's better and easier to breed a 5IV with a desirable IV spread then breeding 2 6IVs together.

Because it isn't. Just taking the probability of IV's at 31 only, you have a 1/12 chance of 6IV if you are using a 5/6 IV pairing. Not counting getting 1-30 in any given IV that isn't forced by knot.
With a Knot, that drops to 1/6 chance of getting the spread you want, if you use a 6/6 parent set. And ideally will result in the dump stat being in a stat you wont use anyhow. Usually the one your nature is also dropping.

Okay? Then here we go:
If you have a 6IV pokemon holding a destiny knot breeding another 6IV pokemon then only 5IVs get passed down.
Out of those 6IVs only one IV will be randomized because of this.
If you had one 5IV with a desired spread then it is more likely that the spread you want will be passed down. The last will be randomized too, but it's better to have a 31/31/31/x/31/31 mudkip than one with 31/x/31/31/31/31/31.
Not to mention it's easier to get 5IVs with nice stats than 6IVs. Even with a 6IV ditto.

Dude, if you have 2 6IV parents in day care, with a destiny knot. There is a 1/32 chance of 6IV babies. This is because 100% of the babies will have 5IVs, at this point you're rolling on which stat it won't have.
Every one of those 5IV babies also rolls on their missing stat and it will be anywhere from 0 to 31.
Hence, a 1/32 chance of a 6IV baby from 2 6IV parents, 100% 5iv rate otherwise.
1/32 chance to have 0 in missing IV, 1/32 chance of 4 in missing IV ect..

And as for the 5IVs passing thier spreads faster, that is also fucking retarded.
This doesn't even need to be that in depth, it's simple as fuck.
A 1/6 chance is way fucking better than the 1/12 chance, or whatever that chance is of the 5iv/6iv couple passing an ideal spread. It's likely not even as low as 1/12 like someone here said. When you have 2 6IV parents you roll for the missing stat, as opposed to rolling for the 5 stats.

For an Adamant male Ralts, any 5IV spread with a 31 in Special Attack is basically identical to a 4IV specimen without that perfect Special stat.

Getting that 5IV-sans-dump ATK spread is easier and more useful than having a hexaperfect parent.

There's no pro to using 2 6IV parents besides getting 6IVs.

What are you trying to communicate to us?
Because it seems like you're saying that you'll take a 4iv shiny with a high chance of not being ideal, instead of a 5iv shiny which has a much more limited range of spreads most of which are ideal.

If you are trying to say why would I use 2 6IV parents when 1 of them already has 6IV.
The destiny knot takes stats from both parents. That's why it's better to use 2 6IV, because every single stat the knot passes on will be perfect.
With the 5iv/6iv combo, it is possible for the 5iv to pass it's missing stat, this produces a 4iv baby, because it's already missing a stat when it rolls for it's missing stat.

I'm not saying all breeding needs to be done with 2 6IV, but masuda method does. The reason for this is:

I could say the same to you. What's stopping your 2 6IV bred mon from a special attacker having no special attack? There's no guarantee on the last stat ending up with a 31, it's randomized.

If I do the 5/6IV spread, then I can have a good grasp over on what my pokemon will or will not inherit. I don't need 6IV pokemon and again, I don't care about the increased chances. If the last IV comes out 31 then fine, that's cool. But I don't need it enough to compromise a good spread.
It's a hassle and I much rather have a useable nice spread. I don't know what much else I can tell you since the pros weigh out much of the cons.

If you like breeding 6IVs then so be it but don't come crying when your shiny didn't't have the spread you wanted.

Misquotes aren't contradicting anything by the way.

That's what I meant to say.

It doesn't change the fact that 2 6IVs have a higher rate of perfect spreads.
If the shiny baby from the 5iv/6iv combo inherits the useless stat, it's not likely to roll 31 in the stat it didn't inherit.
Basically it comes down to two tables, microsoft excell style.
On the 5/6iv table, there is more failed rolls than on the 6/6iv table.

Everyone in this thread agrees that the destiny knot passes five IVs down.

Everyone in this thread also agrees that in general, a 5IV spread is considered ideal.

The argument seems to be the ease of acquiring said 5IV Pokemon

With 2 6IV parents you are guaranteed to pass down 5 perfect IVs, this means you have a 1 out of 6 chance of getting it the 1/6th comes from the probability of not inheriting the undesirable stat. For example, trying to get the spread:
>31/31/31/x/31/31 for a physical attacker
this is the same probability of getting ANY other 5 perfect IV setup desirable or not.

With a 6IV and a 5IV you risk one of the five IVs from the destiny knot to be the imperfect one, which means you could get a 4IV in lieu of being guaranteed a 5 IV, desirability aside.

Thus, when going for an ideal 5IV spread you are statistically more likely to get it using two 6IV parents. In addition, your offspring pokemon will ALWAYS have at least 5IVs and even with a poor 5IV spread, the shiny will be worlds better than a poor 4IV spread.

The logic where you are saying you'd choose an ideal 4IV over an undesirable 5IV is inherently flawed, because you do not get to choose between the two when the egg hatches. Therefore, breeding with 6IV parents is statistically better because the odds of getting a perfect pokemon are higher, and if it is imperfect, at least you've got 5IVs instead of four, increasing viability and trade value overall.

Either way, 5 stats get inherited. One stat is rolled. For most Pokemon, having 31 in the attacking stat it doesn't use is at best useless and at worst harmful (in the case of special attackers). Sure, it's easier to get any old 5 IV Pokemon with 2 6 IV parents, but so what? They might as well only have 4 perfect IVs, as far as function goes. And it's also easier to get 6 IV Pokemon with 6 IV parents, but again, except for special circumstances (like mixed attackers or breeding for a certain hidden power), 6 IVs is not ideal. More perfect IVs != better.
