nicknames are 12 characters in gen6 though.

In regards to nicks, if you transfer something from gen5 which doesn't pass gen6's filter, it will have it's name reverted.

I keep getting an "Invalid terminator sequence in trash bytes." error for the Nicknames section when I check legality on Pokecheck. Whether I make one or not, I get the error. I seriously don't understand what's causing it. Everything else is fine apart from that. Does anyone know what's going on here?

genning a correct ditto, transfering it then adding your friend code is cumbersome and somewhat time consuming. at least offer a 5IV or something for the trouble, and you'll get responses.

It also helps to link to a pokecheck page of a pokemon that you want.

Trash bytes are literally junk characters which don't have data, but help the game determine if your pokemon is legit.
Termintaors are "00", and basically tell the game when fields end. So in this case, the terminators are probably not there/invalid.

You need to add certain characters depending on how short the nickname is compared to the Pokemon's previous name. If it's 1 character shorter, it needs to be [name]\FFFF\FFFF\0000\0000\.....\FFFF. If it's two characters shorter, it needs to be [name]\FFFF[last character in Pokemon's previous name]\FFFF\0000...\FFFF. If three characters shorter, it needs to be [name]\FFFF[last two characters in Pokemon's previous name]\FFFF\0000....\FFFF

e.g. if you were to name your Smeargle Bobbie for example, it would be Bobbie\FFFFe\FFFF\0000\FFFF, where the 'e' comes from the last character of Smeargle's name

Try replacing the chong characters with Lucian and see how that goes. I'm not good with trashbytes, read up earlier in the thread, someone was having naming problems like you.

Basically, I modified a whismur I found online (this one: (https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=7859099) changed it's speed to zero and made it female. Then, I put it in a premier ball and looked up where you can catch whismur in bw, which is white forest. So I changed the location to white forest.

Then I found a PID which has desirable IVs and the hidden ability. That being said, I'm not experienced at this and I got it wrong, so help would be appreciated.

Storm Drain is DW, so it can only either be bred shiny in a Pokeball or caught not shiny in a Luxury ball because Pokemon directly from the dream world are shiny locked.

well for trash bytes, you have to fill in the remaining characters with either \FFFF or \0000
the 0s are always the middle filler inbetween the Fs .. so what I do is start typing the name, then numbers after it so i know how many characters i need to fill, then fill them

it wouldnt let me type more than that, so i know that there will be 5 characters in trash bytes, so make the 2 F things and then the 0s in between:
Ben\FFFF\0000\0000\0000\FFFF

Same applied to special nickname. Also for PID, you just gotta play around with shit.. the PID is calculated off of the ability, nature and IVs. also Encounter is always Egg/event/etc unless its a legend or something

That's jap with English encoded chars
you need to go down in the list of chars past all the kanji and use those letters if you wish to nickname it genesect.. other wise find the jap spelling

I am stumped on how to use the PID system. I uploaded a pokemon of mine to pokecheck, now I downloaded it and want to increase its IVs in pokegen. So I went into the PID generator and put all of its IVs to 31 and it comes back with 1 result with a couple of maxed ivs and the rest like 0-20. What am I doing wrong? I also tried to make a pentaperfect and it was doing the same thing.

Hmm, I was pressing start and it just wasn't even starting.

So it seems like it's easier to just leave the PID field blank and let pokegen just generate a PID for you when you save the pokemon?

Are there any downsides to this at all?

Nothing happens for any of the algorithms when I press Search? When I mean nothing happens, it doesn't search at all. It's like there is an error somewhere and it's preventing me from searching? It also says "Progress: Not active" next to the Search button.

Help please.

Generally it's more difficult starting from scratch. I'd suggest to download an existent mon from the check and edit it from that base.
