Spending days running around aimlessly before you can get a pokemon you love to be able to do anything competitively is just not worth it.
No IVs, but instead an alternative that lets you increase specific stats passively, equally for every Pokemon. No need to spend days breeding the perfect one, just get one with the right nature and make it perfect yourself.

Honestly I'd just like a little indicator under a Pokemon's HP as to what stats are boosted/reduced and maybe a little visual indicator that there is spikes or rocks on the field.
It's a handy thing on Showdown and feels like it should be there once you play the actual game again.

Get rid of bikes altogether. Instead have more rideable pokemon (I see no reason why any pokemon large and strong enough to carry a person shouldn't be able to).
The speed and attack (which we can imagine equals strength) stats determine how fast you can go on it.

Fuck this planet; I see enough of it already. That, and Unova was a worse adaptation of New York City than Sesame Street.

Pokemon has some soft sci-fi elements already (artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, maglev train between Kanto and Johto, matter-data conversion, universal toxin antidotes) so they might as well go the whole way and take it to space. Granted, it'd have to take place well after the current in-game timeline, but it's not totally impossible.

When I got my first 6IV relatively quickly, I thought "wow, it's really that easy." But no, I was lucky. Even with the best of parents, if you're going for 6IV, it's luck of the draw.

When you release pokemon, there's a small chance you'll find them in the wild. If they were nicknamed, they'll still be. They're also a few levels higher than when you released them, the amount depending on the time since it happened.
But, if you defeat them, the chance of finding them again diminishes drastically.

IVs being possible to change after capture with items or some super-training equivalent.

Diverse colors of shinies, variation in the appearance of normal pokemon too.

Faster and better interfaces- mass-releasing pokemon, sorting boxes automatically.

I'm an MMer and I've bred maybe six, tops. Your experience, nor mine, means "it only takes a few hours/it takes forever." At best, you have a 1/32 chance of hatching a 6IV. Those are great odds in the grand scheme of things, but it's still a 3% chance each and every time. Some people are going to get lucky more often than others. It's not a matter of skill or "getting gud," and there's certainly no guarantee that after "a few hours" you WILL get one.

IVs are the equivalent of genes. Training doesn't change genes.

We'd need a genetics lab.

On that note...

Genetics lab--a place to change IVs and abilities (perhaps even shininess)

Obedience school--a place to change nature

building on this, make it global. let me release a guy on a route and let someone else online have a small chance of encountering it at the same level as the other pokemon on the route.

Release a level 100 tyranitar on route 3, someone starts the game up for the first time and encounters it at level 5. Catching it would show them as the OT.

How is that LESS tedious? Unless they're all next to each other--which would be redundant--flying from one to the other to the next would be more tedious than simply waiting for another egg to generate.

How about this instead: the ability to furnish the day care with an item. Some items increase egg production rates, incenses no longer need to be held to gain the desired effect, etc.

The idea was to roughly simulate actual animal breeding. You can train the runt of the litter to run fast, but it simply will never be as fast as his trained brother with vastly superior muscle structure.

That said, given how easy IV breeding is and how perfect stats dominate the meta, I could see them removing IVs and explaining it away as "inferior Pokemon genes were bred out of Pokemon lines long ago."

It's not absurd to surf on a legendary or fly on a legendary. So why would it be absurd to walk with one, or even ride one on land?
Tough I agree that they should tweak the thing a bit given that they're not sprites anymore and the size has to be a bit more accurate. Walking inside a building with a Steelix is indeed absurd, for example.
Again, it's not a vital feature in the game, but it would be lovely to have, specially now that we have amie.

Why all the hate on IVs? I get that they can be a pain and a lot of people don't want to spend time breeding for them, but I feel like those are mostly the people who just gen mons anyway.

Besides, it's piss easy to get a penta perfect mon in like 2-3 generations. Getting rid of IVs takes almost all the purpose/fun out of breeding too yes I like breeding, don't hurt me.

Although the idea for an item that can fix IV's is interesting. Maybe make it so you can only use it to fix 1 IV per poke so it doesn't defeat the whole purpose anyway. Makes IV's easier for people who apparently need it, but still gives a reason to breed/gen/whatever. Plus my shinies seem to like hatching without that 1 key stat...

What if, instead of removing IVs, they added an item--like an ability capsule--that allowed you to reroll one of the Pokémon's IVs? You'd have to spend a shitload of BP to perfect a Pokémon, since each individual item would only give you a 1/31 chance of perfecting one of its stats, but it'd still be something.

Those who enjoy breeding can keep breeding, but those who form attachments to specific 'mons can find a way to make it happen.

I would loved them to continue the trainer customization they started this gen and add back the secret bases. It would be awesome if they made as many customization options with the clothing and bases as say Animal Crossing.

Then, you could have the option to visit their base from the PSS and a screen inside would let them watch your PR video. Also, if they don't bring back the Pokemon walking around with you-it would be cool if they could at least have one Pokemon be able to stay at the base where you can take care of it (pet it, feed it, entertain it) like Pokemon-amie and visitors would be able to do so as well.

I've always wanted a new GTS feature:

You select a pokemon you HAVE in your box and party, and the GTS searches and then shows what other people are offering for that pokemon.

So basically if you don't want anything in particular, you can look to see what interesting mons are being offered for something you have.

This is an old stupid idea but I want a more modern pokemon game where the main character, female or male, isn't that big on pokemon and would rather graduate and pay rent then become a pokemon master.

Pretty much start a new game, opponents always have pokemon a few levels higher than yours or same level. Should have a bit of the BS the battle Maison has. I'd like a game where there's no limitations as to how far you can go from the start. No people blocking paths, the only thing preventing you from getting to the next area is your pokemon not having enough level to beat your way through the wildlife. HMs work as in gen 5 and you can get them at any given point.

I wouldn't mind more diverse areas to find Pokemon like the way Castelia City in B2/W2 had sewers. Gen VI stepped up a little by FINALLY allowing Pokemon to be found in garbage cans for a little realism.

I would like for the games to be like the second Pokemon Ranger game that gave you 18 different starter/partner Pokemon (one for each type) and 18 Gyms. You still have to beat 8 but you choose which one. I don't know how levels would be determined. Maybe two levels higher than your highest-leveled Pokemon at least until you get to the fifth through 8th Gyms.

It's still hard to catch pokemon that are higher levels than you anyways. Just put fast balls in the later portions of the game. Whats the worst that can happen? People might not have to grind as much?

You mean in terms of making Pokemon more individual? Develop a mechanic that automatically calculates slightly different sizes/colors or something similar to Spinda/Pumpkaboo, and/or put in more random characteristic blurbs (although no longer based on IVs)

I don't think I've ever given a fuck about the storyline in any game. Make it interesting. Make it so shit's going down and things could die. Every game is just filled with dialogue about truth, love, ideals,ect. It's just so horribly repetetive and boring.

I know it's not really a feature, but I hope next gen fixes Kangaskhan. Fixing it meaning having it make a little bit of sense for once. Like a pre-evo that's literally the baby shown out of the pouch in its mega form, that can be male or female, resulting in male adult Kangaskhans that are more bulky but have no pouch. These could get a different mega.

I miss the Running Shoes being always on if you wanted, I prefered that to Bike since it was just too comfortable imho. And the Pokémon following you, of course.

However, and being realist, I just wish they don't take Pokémon Amie off as they did with most of the "sidestuff". It's simply brilliant and I like to interact with my partners, both old and new.

I wish they'd release a game with an updated Pokedex. One with all the Pokemon with evolutions spread across different generations now grouped together. Possibly update the evolutions on some Pokemon and get rid of the bullshit requirements on so many evolutions.

After all these years, I think its time to go revisit the old Pokemon and update and organize them.
