if one of your parents must be 5IVs, it's better to be pentaperfect to guarantee if the 5IVs you want are selected, each has a 100% chance of passing down a perfect. hopefully you'll get a 6IV by pure chance after a few boxes

Yeah, WT'd them all. I just want at least one shiny female Eevee. I've MM'ed Pokemon before. But this specific Pokemon means so much more to me on a personal level. And to hatch those many shiny male Eevee, is really heartbreaking. Not many others know that pain.

I have a level 100 shiny Japanese ditto with perfect IVs. With Destiny Knot. A friend gave it to me.

One, how the fuck do I check it's legitimate?

And two, if it is legitimate, do I need another Pokemon with perfect IVs to breed good Pokemon from it or will the IVs just come from the ditto?

IVs are randomly chosen through both parents, and you can't check if the ditto is legit. You can check it's IVs in Kiloude with the judge, but that's as close as you'll get, sorry.

You can't check if it's legitimate or not its not but you can just pretend it is/give it the benefit of the doubt.

And yeah, you need to have another parent with decent ivs. The knot works so that the egg will have 5 random ivs from the parents. So you want a penta/hexa perfect parent to go with the ditto if possible.

I think the only way to get it in that situation is to use one of those moves that hits 3 targets to bring it down to 1 seviper right off the bat. I don't think anyone normally carries any of those moves though.

but yeah, I was looking over that Trainer ID/Secret ID/Personality value stuff again, and I found something that MIGHT have caused so many females. There's one bit in the part I couldn't figure out, where if it was a 1 for all your espurrs then you'd have a 127x higher chance of getting a female shiny over a male one. That bit should be random so it should be 50/50, but maybe some part of it was passed down from the parents or something, idk.

Well /shw/, here it is. My first non-random X/Y shiny. Prior to this I got a shiny Liepard that I used a little in-game, but this one was my first hunt.

I guess I'm going to shoot for some more fishing shinies now. I got this one after about 25, so I'd like to keep my luck up. We'll see, though. Maybe Horses/Skrelp next. Wish me luck, and may this be the beginning of a bright future for me and /shw/.

As for "best competitive" it depends on what your team structure is. Better to build a team that fits your play style first then check out the shinies

Does anyone shiny hunt while they doto? How'd your offering go? I got a mythical and a rare for two shitty rares, a couple commons and a couple chests for a test run.

Gonna put a little more in for the second round, but probably not that much because crafting. Gunning it for dat disruptor mount, If I don't get it I'll trade for it I guess.

And back to the topic, just finished my first box of Phantump, wondering if it's possible they secretly made the more popular pokemon less likely to be shiny? I've noticed people popping shiny unpopular pokemon very fast(even unintentionally), but the more popular ones seem to take more work.

Finally managed to breed up a 5IV male parent with the right stats to pair with a JP 5IV female Shellder with the right stats and egg moves too. All that's left is the long ride ahead.

I do find it weird though that Shellder's shiny shell is gold colored, but evolving to Cloyster changes it. It still looks good shiny so here's to another ride before I continue with my 2spooky2shiny team.

Mate, you're in the shiny hunting thread. Everyone here is currently undergoing a challenge far more time consuming than completing the Dex. Didn't you say yourself it wasn't even that difficult?

The way I see it, whether you complete the Dex alone or with help, you've completed the Dex. You get the Shiny Charm either way. It really makes no difference.

Is this a joke? Of course it matters dummie.
I feel like the ideal /vp/ for people like you would be something like a bunch of begging threads like "help me pls I can't level up in a restaurant that gives me 50k exp everytime!" or "pls trade me a pokémon it takes minutes to find on the GTS!".

Also, MM breeding with a Shiny Charm is by far the simplest thing you can do, especially with everyone having 6 IV dittos. I got a competitive Ralts in 15 eggs and a Dratini in about 5 boxes, it's so easy it doesn't even bring any of that excitement one use to feel with shinies.

I'm interrupting this feud above to get this thread back on track to shiny hunting.

I got the Shiny Charm just over a month ago, right? And so of course I thought it would help me out in my hunts a ton.

Well. I've hatched 700 more eggs since then, done plenty of chains of 25+ with the Pokeradar, and hunting in the Safari for hours.

I hatched about 1000 Numel with my SC and got nothing, and when I took a pause I found 3 shinies almost in a row. It's a matter of luck, keep at it.

Folks in smogon hard tested it and it's kinda confirmed. The supposed "not working on breeding" rumor was caused by Serebii and was never proved.
