Has anyone even been bothered to look into Shedinja?

Why is it that the pokemon professors send 10 year olds out to collect important scientific data? They could prettymuch write any old bullshit/some rumours they heard, how do the professors check whether pokedex entries returned by kids are legit? I sure as hell wouldn't put my trust in a child to do my research for me if I wanted to be taken seriously.

Freaking Kyurem. I don't care if it was a myth. I still think the thing was eating people and other Pokemon to make up for lacking the ability to create its own energy. It and the Litwick line although Jellicent is creepy in its own way too.
