He was a useful tank in gens 3 and 4, and 4 even made him a quality sneaky pebbles setter, but 5's power creep sent him down to UU. 6 hasn't been any kinder. I haven't played doubles this gen, but in 5 he had a niche as a Wide Guard user with good typing on sandstorm teams. Even then, fucking Shitstrodon got used more frequently.
I swear, Gastrodon gets all of my ire for sending my bro into competitive obscurity. It'll be okay, though, because the weather nerf took away its only claim to OU prominence.
