Hatched Froakies literally all day yesterday. No dice. I have a male 4 IV Japanese Froakie in with my own 5 IV Protean female, so surely my odds of a decently IVed shiny should be decent.

Still, this is only the third pokemon I've bred for shinies, and the first two came much quicker, and this is starting to wear at my patience. Still, I'll keep trying. Wish me luck, and good luck to all the rest of you.

Mornin folks, what have I missed?
Going to be half assedly attempting more of The Chunky Quest today, while sorting out my external hard drives and tidying up.
Updated the old picture though, I did have Metagross in green, I don't actually have metagross yet, but I do have a shiny metang.
So he is now in light blue, as is Aggron as I have a shiny Aron from the GTS.

That said I've given up for now, at the moment I'm running through X in French so I can get access to Fly, currently have 2 6iv Dratinis from my Y game in the daycare, trying to get a 6iv French Dratini to transfer back to Y. I had one hatch but it was Female with Shed Skin, so I don't think I can pass down the HA...

Since my shiny collection has grown to fill almost a whole box now, and I realise a few of them have been sitting in that box since I got them, I'll be doing my first Shiny Giveaway today.

I already started a new hunt - for shiny Vespiquen. I noticed I have a 2mon bug safari with Combee and a male Cute Charm Sylveon, so it makes things so much easier.

Generally I'm filling a box with eggs, then I hatch the eggs afterwards. Is that the quickest and least monotonous way to do it or am I missing something really obvious?

If you fill a box with eggs and hatch it before collecting more eggs, the daycare man will probably have another egg for you, but you can't get it until you finish hatching the box, therefore preventing the game from generating more eggs for you since he can only hold one egg for you, potentially missing your shiny frame. This way you are dedicating your steps solely to egg hatching.
There is a better method. You collect 5 eggs, hatch 3, release them, hatch the other 2 as you get 3 more eggs and so on. Every time the daycare man has another egg for you, you can get it and let the game generate more eggs for you. This way you are dedicating your steps to both egg hathcing and egg producing.

Should i make this into an image so i can post as a guide in beggining of /shw/ threads?

If both parents have 6 IVs then you have a 1/6 chance of getting your desired IV spread and a 1/32 chance of getting a 6 IV shiny. Using a 5IV parent presents the risk of getting a 4IV shiny. I would recommend getting a 6IV Skrelp first, but it's up to you.
