>Continued:The best cards in the above decks go for about... 10 dollars? And you can only have upwards of four of each card in the 60-card deck. It doesn't get pricy until you want everything "full art" (a special, super rare card version of a regular card) and even then it never crosses above 50 USD unless you want a Shiny Charizard (Shiny pokemon cards also include item cards, but they're like full arts: they're the secret rares in the pack.)
>How a set works:Sets are different groupings of cards that are released. Imagine them like batches, each called a different name. They contain Commons, Uncommons, Rares, and Secret Rares. Secret rares are your shinies + full arts (only a few released per pack). While rares are the cards you'll typically find in top decks, some commons and uncommons have really useful abilities.
Rares are about... a dollar or two each? EXs and Secret Rares go from 4 dollars for a promo to about 30 dollars for a REALLY good full art. It's a really cheap game to get into and lots of fun. I suggest you go to
pokemon.com and search for a League near you, they'll teach you and it's a great and nice environment to learn more about pokemon. I'll keep this tab up for a bit if you want to ask any questions, I think I explained the basics. *if you want to know what each deck does, a quick google of the names I provided and "TCG deck list" will explain what cards go where and their techs (most likely))
