I just rewatched Charizard in the Charizard valley episode not too long ago.

Ash and Charizard's personalities really matched (immature, hot headed, outclassed but refuses to give up) and both eventually grew up. That thumbs-up to Pikachu and Pikachu waving goodbye was cute.

Team Rocket were such bros in that episode too. Funny how they threw rocks at Charizard to keep it awake while Charizard wasn't aware of what they were doing. Stealth Rock saved its life.

I love the whole thing about them bringing Charizard back. For a second I thought it was actually a clever shout out to past seasons, an actual attempt by the anime to do something that didn't involve trying to shill more games. Fuck no, they wanted to shill people on Mega Evolution and Charizard was basically Ash's only Pokemon that could do it.

Fuck yes, the Magmar Vrs. Charizard battle is my favorite battle to date. I haven't seen much of anything beyond gen 3 anime, im working on that
