I think he thinks that the Arc de Triomphe is where the Lumiose Gym is.

It's not. It's got the circular roads, but it's over in the northwest of Paris. (Of course, the Eiffel Tower isn't in the centre of Paris either)

It's a shame that the central gym was terribly underwhelming and that you have absolutely no reason to return there. Would've been nice if you could battle gym leaders and the trainers in said gym again rather than in that one spot.

Fuck, I dunno why they seem to think that making these grand elaborate gyms which you only ever see once is even remotely good game design. This is something they should've addressed in like generation two.
