What's the quickest method of figuring out pokemons weaknesses while battling online? Do you guys have a website up or something when you battle?

This is the advice I gave to my friends who decided to finally join me in competitive play. Print out the type chart, and tape it next to where ever you play. Print out a second one and put it by your bathroom mirror. Learn the goddamned chart.

It wasn't that hard in Gen 1 when there was less types, the types and their weaknesses we had generally made some semblance of sense, and there seem to be a much higher percentage of monotypes. Also abilities throw a big monkey wrench into things.

In general it is still pretty easy in most cases. But some elemental weaknesses don't make sense to me so my mind sometimes rejects them. Like Steel. Why the hell is Steel weak against Fighting? In real life the guy with the knife is more likely to beat the guy with just his fist. Why is steel weak against ground? The metal plow marked the turning point in human history when man officially made the earth his bitch. Also shouldn't steel be weak against water because of rusting?

Forgot to mention that Levitate is also annoying as fuck because some pokemon that are clearly levitating don't actually have the ability.

Are you really this retarded?
The only excuse of not knowing a Pokémon's weaknesses and resistances is a newly introduced type or a retyped Pokémon. But you get to know that in time, anyway.
Knowing which Pokémon has and which does not have Levitate is something you get to know automatically. Even casual players know which Pokémon has Levitate and which does not (perhaps not if you ask straight, which Pokémon has Levitate, but if you ask if X has it or not, they will know).

I haven't played since gen 2, and can at least remotely guess types. Hidden ability and shit is on a whole other level though. But some may be better at this than other, I won't judge them.

My headcanon is that 'clearly levitating' Pokémon that don't have levitate as an ability are somehow attached to the ground and its movements, so moves like Earthquake shake it in its levitation.

You shouldn't be playing online on the first place if you're this much of a shit, but when I don't know a pokemon's typings or abilities, I just look them up in bulbapedia or smogon. A quick google search of "[pokemon name] smogon" or "[pokemon name] bulbapedia" should work.

Yeah I know this is bait etc. Just in case anyone has similar problems to what the OP says, that works pretty well.
