I've learned that some of what Smogon does has no credible explanation but is there any reason why evasion is banned but Para-flinch is just fine? they both just amount to pure luck.

Statistically speaking, Paraflinch Togekiss' flinch rate is higher than Stone Edge's Accuracy. If you don't have an electric or ground type to tank the para (like every good team should have), or a pokemon that packs a super effective STAB move, you're doing something very wrong

There's still prediction involved. There's a turn of setting up required before Paraflinch works, you'd just be stupid to stay in and eat the air slashes. It would be hax if your pokemon DID move after paralysis and an Air Slash. Look at the statistics.

I do feel pretty silly, I got buggered by a klefki yesterday, setting up for Azumarill.

Its one of many attacks that has a secondary purpose or effect, which in this case it ignores evasion/accuracy, if it was stronger there would be no point to using other moves of the same type. What the fuck is wrong with you babies, Christ.

What does this even mean? Does Thunder and T-wave overcentralizes the game unlike DT and Minimize would? I guess Ground type don't exist.

So I guess everyone have to use those moves for a Blissey/Chancey in favor of a better move huh? Nevermind that they are poorly distributed among the Pokemon and Blissey/Chancey can heal.

Rapid Spin only need to hit you once for it to do its job. The anti evasion move needs to hit the Pokemon a couple of times to KO it. That same Pokemon can use stronger moves on the one trying to break through evasion and KO it quicker.

Every Pokemon and their mom can learn it. What can work on some won't work on the others.

1 evasion boost IIRC gives you the accuracy of Focus Blast...Imagine trying to use Focus Blast's accuracy on all of your moves. God forbid the likes of Thunder and Fire Blast.

I know I'm showing my age here, but I was into the competitive scene way back when Red and Blue were first released. This was when there was no Smogon or anti evasion clause. Literally every team had one or two Pokemon with the moveset: Double Team, Swift, Rest, Sword's Dance. It was like the entire meta was all about who could evade quicker, rest, boost attack, and hit with shitty ass Swift to counter the opponent's Swift Dancer.

Really, it consisted of 2 or 3 swift dancers, Tobybro, Parasyrex, and Snorlax or a Legendary Bird. Seriously, that metagame was so shitty I'm glad that Minimize and Double Team is frowned upon.
