Why make a bunch of awesome pre-battle music for all the different types of trainers, then just use the same (terrible) generic actual battle music for all of them?

While I'd like this feature in future games, bear in mind it'd mean they'd have to work just about twice as much on the soundtrack. That takes a big chunk of effort.

Seriously? I thought the trainer battle music this gen was pretty good, the best since gen 2 in fact. It was painfully mundane in gens 3, 4 and 5, though the latter's subway remix was at least OK.

I do agree that it'd be cool if different trainer classes had different themes, or at least slight variations of the same theme.
