Emerald, Platinum and BW2 all fixed on all the mistakes its own gen did and made the games much more playable and fun.
While Emerald didn't particularly add many things to the story when compared to other enhanced versions, it still made the post game worth it. I think I had about 500 hours on the Battle Frontier alone, because it was THAT good.
Platinum made some nice changes to the story this time, all the while fixing many things players complained about in DP.
And now, BW2 went completely out of the expected and made a sequel of the original games of the gen. All the changes it made, without counting the fact that it is a continuation of a story, made it, once again, much more fun and varied than what its predecessor series of games was on that same gen. BW didn't give you that sense of adventure of exploring the region, but BW2 made it there.

I don't know. I have liked every enhanced version of a gen for what it was.
