All seems likely. I hope the Diancie item is reusable so you can turn any Carbink into a Diancie, that would make breeding for a good Diancie possible, and would allow for a decent shiny one.

I hope they're all items, though, I hate having the pokemon handed to me.

That's like saying Mew needs an item to transform into Mewtwo.
It probably has something to do with that lake and that's where the energy needed to transform a Carbink once every million years comes from.

Genesect is not Kabutops, and nothing has EVER implied that. As shown with Mewtwo/Mew and Diancie/Carbink, when a legendary is derived from another Pokemon it is made clear from the very beginning.

I think there's going to be an event with Genesect, or possibly Genesect's original form before Team Plasma altered it.

I say this because if you show the hiker in the fossil lab Genesect and he gives you the drives, after you talk to him again he'll say that Genesect is rumored to have been seen in Glittering cave, but that it is only a rumor.

No it doesn't. Kabutops isn't even a Bug type for starters, and then there are the more technical aspects like it lacking the insect abdomen.

I'd like to think that Hoopa is the reason Shabboneau Castle is empty. NPCs say the owner of the castle gave his stuff away, but isn't Hoopa a trickster that steals things using portals?

I don't think so. The castle being empty was a plot device to contrast it against the palace, so the Poké Flute seems really valuable as their only "real" possession. This also puts AZ as a former greedy asshole who reformed and learned a valuable lesson with the return of his Pokémon.
Not to say Hoopa and the castle can't be related, though.
