Right now, they're trying to neuter the whole mechanic by cutting off megas one by one, just like Drizzlemons last gen. Doesn't change the fact that Mega mechanic itself is a metagame shifter, just like Drizzle. Megas are the new Drizzle.

Mawile will probably go before Pinsir but yeah, I've lost all interest in the Smogon ruleset this gen, it obvious their trying to ban anything that overly changes their perfectly constructed metagame.

We just need Nintendo to copyright their simulators and all will be right in the world.

They'll hold public votes to gauge the situation but have no problems simply ignoring them if the result doesn't match what they believe. It might as well just be one person.

A reminder that Blaziken, Mega Gengar, and Mega Kangaskhan are not currently banned in any official tournaments, just one website.

Unless your using their simulators (in which case you have to play by their rules) you can use these three whenever you want, so stop talking as if they're completely un-usable now..

Actually Showdown has Battlespot and VGC rulesets, so you're free to play those as well.

It's just that the Smogon metagames are better

Shadow Tag is a bullshit broken ability. Gothitelle went from PU to BL when it got it. When something with MUCH better stats and a better movepool got it? What did you think was going to happen.

Kangskhan was stupid powerful. It didn't just shit on stall, it shit on everything. And not only was it stupid powerful, it was so bulky and easy to use that a retarded monkey could use it to beat a much more skillful player.

Lucario is not as unstoppable but it's still really strong and can go special or phyiscal. Literally only Aegislash can counter both sets, that and, uh, Assault Vest Azumarill.

"Smogon wants to ban Pinsir because it shits on stall" would be wrong because Skarmory is Pinsir's best counter and that's a staple of stall teams. Mandibuzz can also counter it. It's quad weak to rocks so if it's forced out by something it can have trouble coming back in. Unlike Lucario it only has one type of priority move. It can't go special. It has exactly one viable moveset, and that's Return/Quick Attack or Feint/Earthquake/Swords Dance. It's far, far more predictable and easy to handle than Lucario, and it's slower.

Charizard has the unpredictability factor of "is it X or Y" but once that's gone it's a lot easier to handle. Y-zard only has 100 base speed, and is walled by Blissey so it's again not an issue of butthurt smogon mods liking stall too much (Haunter is a HO player by the way.) Few things can switch into it and its STAB or coverage moves, but then again even fewer things can switch into Mega Medicham and no one has mentioned banning that. X-zard is a really good dragon dancer but does not have priority and is only 100 base speed so it is also pretty easy to revenge kill. Oh and both forms are weak to stealth rock.

Any other megas, like Mawile, have zero chance of being suspected or banned.

chaos isn't even on the XY OU tiering council, for fuck's sake. He doesn't have that much power over the tiering process.

And why the fuck are you even assuming that they're going to look for something new to ban once Lucarioite which everyone on /vp/ seemed to think was overpowered a month ago, just like the consensus was that Megamom needed to be banned in November gets kicked? Charizard is literally the only one that might need to be tested, and that's only because there's two of them. Not that they're interchangeable, though, since you can probably guess which one you're up against from Team Preview.

The next suspects are probably going to be ex-Ubers like Manaphy and Thundurus-I, or new Pokemon that have bee highly successful like Aegislash and Talonflame. I would bet money on Talonflame getting tested; dunno about a ban, though.

For example, blaziken can check kangaskhan. Perish trap mega gengar checks blaziken. Etc.

Match between Kangaskhan and Gengar could go either way
Blaziken can check Kangaskhan and Lucario so long as it uses Protect, but none of them can check Blaziken. Blaziken is broken beyond reason.

The thing is, it's not too difficult to check Lucario (only a handful of bulky fighting types can check Kangsaskhan though,) countering it and not losing a Pokemon in the process of getting rid of it is the hard part.

Mega Gengar does not have any counters, period, Shadow Tag is just too strong.

GameFreak also intended to make the metagame a gambling shitfest with zero to little skill requirement by allowing play with no clauses. Fucksake, even Stadium had a sleep clause IIRC. According to GF and their ruleset, there is absolutely no need to git gud, or predict, or adapt, or anything else for that matter - just slap OHKOs, Spore, Minimize along with PerishTrap/DBond Gengar and Wish/SToss Genghis and pretty much cheat your way into victory
