Do what >>18066240 said or if you don't want to spend as much time just get a Venusaur (Worry Seed, Sweet Scenet and Sleep Powder) or Parasect (Spore, False Swipe)

Also if you care about this sort of thing breed a shit ton of Ralts with Synchronize so when you get an encounter you can lead with one of those and the wild Pokemon will have the same nature as the used Ralts.

Also a lead Pokemon with Cute Charm means you always find Pokemon of the opposite gender IIRC.

Bad synergy between Worry Seed and Sleep Powder of course but I use it to check abilities cause I already have a Venusaur at hand. If you use Sweet Scent in tall grass you are guaranteed a horde battle.

Why though, there are way better ways to check abilities if you want to still be able to sleep them. Like a Trace pokemon, or Skill Swap.

And being able to trigger horde battles is good for EV training, not so much for catching specific pokemon. Best place to catch new ones is Friend Safari, where Sweet Scent is pointless.

Damp Parasect with sword dance, false sweep and spore. Ghosts are usually found in their first form in the wild and thus easy to catch with just spore, same for grass type that can't be spored but are put to 1HP

Earlier today I went back to Emerald to try and catch Latios so I could transfer it up to Y. I managed to get it down to one or two pixels of health with Crobat (Mean Look, Confuse Ray, one Wing Attack), but I can't catch it. Latios can 2HKO Crobat with its Psychic attacks; once it faints I have just enough time to let Jolteon paralyse it with Thunder Wave before it flees.

Now I'm EV training a Hasty Murkrow in FR; it can be daught Thunderwave, learn Mean Look at level 48, and is immune to any of Latio's attacks.

Actually I understand this poster's feelings on having STAB technician false swipe. Nothing sucks more than having to use a move more than once when trying to catch the fucker.
